About OES
What is the Order of the Eastern Star?
The Order of the Eastern Star is made up of phenomenal people, both men and women, who believe in fraternal love. OES members work together for the Good of the Order and the benefit of humankind. The Eastern Star is a social order comprised of persons with spiritual values, but it is not a religion.
This site gives limited information about OES, New Star's Mission, our values, and some background information about our history.
The Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world that both men and women can join. It is based on teachings from the Bible, but is open to people of all faiths, except no faith. Members of the Order are aged 18 and older; men must be Master Masons, aged 21 and older, and women must have specific relationships with Masons. Originally, a woman would have to be the daughter, widow, wife, sister, or mother of a Master Mason, but the Order now allows for other relatives.
How to join: To inquire about membership in New Star Chapter #555, talk to a current member or contact our local chapter. Petitions are carefully read and eligibility investigated before election to membership. The Order strives to select persons of mental, moral and spiritual quality who will work together in harmony to perform its objectives. To find chapters in your area, contact the Grand Chapter of that state or province. Our Grand Chapter is St. John Grand Chapter @ 7443 South Ingleside, Chicago, Il 60619.
